Know what you’re paying for.
Compare the whole cost of an energy offer, including the way Openlight is paid.
Energy comparisons
A comparison should make the supplier’s charges and any Openlight commission or fee clear before you decide. The amount and how it is charged depend on the offer.
Commission included in the quoted price
When commission is already included in a unit rate or quoted total, it is part of that price. Do not add it a second time when comparing the total cost.
A fee charged separately
If an offer has a separate fee, include that fee alongside the energy charges to compare the whole cost. Ask for the amount, how it is collected and what service it covers before agreeing.
CCL work is separate
Openlight’s fee is 10% of the CCL savings we secure. If we secure no savings, there is no Openlight fee for that work. This is separate from commission on an energy contract.
A preliminary check does not confirm eligibility or authorise paid work. Before proceeding, ask us to set out the saving period used for the fee, VAT treatment and any separate scheme or third-party costs.
Ask us about a charge
If a charge or what it covers is unclear, speak to us before making a decision.
