Our fee.

10% of the CCL savings we secure.

No savings, no Openlight fee.

We agree how the saving is measured and the period covered before you proceed. Any separate scheme or association charges are explained too, so you can judge the overall benefit.

How CCL relief works.

Climate Change Levy is a UK tax on certain energy supplied for business and public-sector use, including electricity and gas. Suppliers charge it on eligible energy.

Exemption or reduction?

An exemption removes the levy from qualifying energy. A Climate Change Agreement (CCA) is a reduction route for eligible facilities. Certain mineralogical and metallurgical uses can have a separate exemption route. The right route depends on your activities and the applicable rules.

Under the published rates from 1 April 2026, qualifying CCA supplies receive a 92% electricity CCL reduction and an 89% gas CCL reduction. These apply to the levy on eligible energy, not the whole energy bill.

Sources and application timing

Official guidance reviewed .

As at 1 October 2026, the next standard application window for new entrants in existing CCA sectors is 1 January–31 August 2027. Timing depends on the route and approval. Applying does not mean the discount starts on the application date. Other routes and newly eligible sectors can have different arrangements.

Sector guidance

These organisations provide sector information; they are not claimed Openlight partners or endorsers. The Environment Agency administers the CCA scheme, with sector associations supporting applications.

Your questions, answered.

Could my business qualify?

Eligibility depends on what happens at your premises and the requirements of the relevant scheme. The initial check gives activity-based guidance. We need a full assessment to confirm whether your particular site qualifies.

How much could I save?

The saving depends on your eligible energy use, the relief available, the relevant dates and costs. CCA discounts apply to the levy on eligible energy. We assess the potential benefit before you decide to proceed.

What does the service cost?

Our fee is 10% of the CCL savings we secure. No savings, no Openlight fee. We agree how the saving is measured and the period covered before you proceed, and explain any separate scheme or association charges.

What happens after the initial check?

You receive an initial indication based on the activities you select, followed by a savings illustration where appropriate using your approximate electricity bill and stated assumptions. You can then choose to leave an email address for a follow-up. We review the relevant requirements with you and explain the next steps. The initial check is not a completed application or authority to change your account.

What information will you need?

Start with a few details about your business, the activities at your premises and your approximate monthly electricity and gas costs. No bill upload is needed at this stage. If you request a follow-up, we explain which energy records and evidence of your activities are needed for the relevant assessment.

Are there other scheme costs or obligations?

There can be. Depending on the route, a Climate Change Agreement can involve scheme or association charges, reporting and performance commitments. We explain the relevant obligations and proposed costs before you decide.
